Perhaps you’ve had them knock on your door (those sharply dressed young people with name tags identifying them as elder or sister) to tell you about the true gospel. If so, you’ve encountered missionaries from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS). With an ever growing LDS population in Grand Junction, we need to understand clearly the true gospel, as well as some of the beliefs held by the LDS, so we can point them to Jesus Christ who alone can forgive sins. To help the people of CBC, we are recommending Tony Brown’s concise book, Sharing the Gospel With a Mormon
Sharing the gospel with an LDS missionary, friend, neighbor or family member, can be frustrating because they use much of the same terminology as evangelical Christians. The LDS want to be considered Christians, but what they believe is another doctrine. Brown shows you what the LDS teach and believe by quoting them extensively. Their statements are contrasted with what the Bible says, showing that what the LDS believe is indeed another gospel. Brown succinctly, yet thoroughly, summarizes LDS history and their understanding of the plan of salvation. The apostle Peter tells us to “always be ready to make a defense…for the hope that is in you.” This book will help you make that defense to the LDS you encounter.
