John Newton, the author of Amazing Grace, was a pastoral theologian who loved both the Lord and His people. Newton wrote many letters to Christian friends over the years and in those letters he gave gracious and godly counsel. In Tony Reinke’s Newton on the Christian Life to Live is Christ, Reinke presents much of the fruit of those letters covering many aspects of Christian living as presented by John Newton. This book would be a wonderful introduction to both Newton and his warm pastoral counsel.
