Children and Youth
At Calvary, we believe that “children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward” (Psa. 127:3). The primary role of all Christian parents is to bring their children up “in the discipline and instruction of the Lord” (Eph. 6:4). As a church body, we desire to serve parents and help them as they disciple their children with these ministries.
Nursery: During the worship service, we provide a nursery for children from infancy to three years old. The nursery provides a safe and joyful place for infants and toddlers to be cared for by trusted members of the congregation during the years of their lives when sitting through an entire service is difficult.
Children’s Bible Lesson: For parents who choose, we dismiss children ages four to third grade for an age appropriate Bible lesson during the sermon. Children are dismissed before the sermon and brought back in after the sermon. We encourage parents to use these years to train their children, so after third grade, they can participate in the entire worship service.
My Church Notebook: These notebooks are designed for children ages 8-12 and are to be used to take notes during the sermon. After four weeks of notes, they can receive a prize after they show their notes to one of the preaching pastors.
In teaching our children and youth, our goal is not to simply entertain them, although we do have fun. Neither is our goal to simply teach basic Biblical morals. Rather, we seek to instill in them the importance of the gospel and their need for it, the priority of the local church, and the importance of Biblical change in their lives. CALVARY KIDS
Sunday nights, from 5:00-6:30, for kids pre-K to 8th grade. Our aim is to help the parents of CBC disciple their children through scripture memory, catechism, and age-appropriate Bible teaching. We use The Biggest Story Curriculum for our elementary children, and curriculum from Youth Pastor Theologian for our middle-school youth. Calvary Kids runs from the second Sunday in September to Thanksgiving, then from the middle of January to the end of April. Register here
YOUTH GROUP
Our Youth Group is for all high school students. CBC Youth meets in one of our youth leaders’ homes every other Sunday night at 5:00. We aim to build friendships among our youth while they are intentionally invested in by our leaders. At every youth group gathering, time is spent studying the Bible together, playing games, and hanging out while enjoying food. Contact us for more information about meeting location.
