Our Purpose
Calvary Bible Church exists for the Glory of God, the Good of His People, and the Great Commission. Everything that we do falls under one or all of these three main headings:
HIS GLORY. HIS PEOPLE. HIS MISSION.
HIS GLORY
“…to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, forever and ever. Amen.” Ephesians 3:21
It is God’s desire to bring glory to Himself and His gracious character. Therefore it is essential that the local church strive to glorify God in everything that we do. As His people, we have an obligation to reflect His heart, character and truth in the local church and in our daily lives. Calvary Bible Church exists for the Glory of God.
HIS PEOPLE
“A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another. By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” John 13:34-35
Contrary to the rugged individualism of the American culture, it is not God’s design for Christians to live out their lives alone. He saved us and brought us into the community of the Church. We are to live our lives together in the local church loving and serving one another using both our Spiritual gifts and natural talents to encourage one another toward Spiritual growth. Calvary Bible Church exists for the Good of God’s People.
HIS MISSION
“…And Jesus came and said to them, ‘All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.'” Matthew 28:16-20
Thankfully, the local church does not have to set its own agenda or invent its own focus. Jesus has both set our agenda and has given us a very clear focus when he said – “make disciples of all nations”. Therefore, our agenda and focus is to make disciples here in Grand Junction and around the world. Calvary Bible Church exists for the Great Commission.
