As we continue our exposition of Romans 9, we see Paul’s appeal to the Old Testament, specifically the Exodus account and the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart. God’s purposes of election are not only eternal, but he is free to choose to bestow mercy on whomever he wills, and harden whomever he wills.
